This feels like me and my crush. I'm sitting by him everyday, yet he doesn't notice. And when my friend said " Hey, Brax, who would you rather date? Christa or Emma( me )? O///O  And I was like " umm...." And he said. Emma DUH!!!!  " I blushed so hard. And yesterday he was close to kissing me >/////////<

About how long did it take to animate the whole thing?
Looks great.  Keep up the good work. :D

each scene take about 2-3 weeks but the whole movie itself took a year because it was my first serious attempt in the anime style.  It took a lot of practice and research.  I feel I could animate more efficiently now though.  The full clip is found here.

All the retracing, coloring, and special effects are done on toon boom animate pro. I use flash for rough animations and I find its much easier to get ideas out. Photoshop for concept art and backgrounds. I am planning to edit everything with adobe premiere.

this really reminded me of Horo for mSpice and wolf :D
really nice animetion, you presented the feelings really clearly :)

To make it even better i would recomend making some lines thicker and the background could slowly move away to represent the movement even better :)

I did it in the 2nd take. I'll release it when I complete the project. As for the lines, I believe its the gif's file quality and the anti-aliasing turned too high that makes it too invisible. *fingers cross* it doesnt happen on in the 2nd take.

I like the way the hair move !
Could she also move the eye at the beginning ? there is something with their eyes (before she moves), but it is hard to point out what exactly.
Maybe because she doesn't blink.

I think you can improve this scene by making the background bigger so that you can slide it slowly from down to top (of the image) and by applying Gaussian Blur on it. It will give the impression of walking more evident.

Also, the male character can be Gaussian Blurred, or the female character Blurred at first and then swipe the focus between her and him moments before she shows her upset face.

Yes I am planning to improve this when I do the final editing. I am going to zoom out each tree at different speeds to give a an illusion of 3D depth. I'll see if focus blur swipes will help. I am wary of focus blur swipes because I dont like to force the viewers eyes too much.

its complex to say. The shortest answer I can say is I had a lot of help by watching videos of "animator's survival kit." A lot of animator consider it as the best learning material but the rest is going be a lot of practice.

One thing, though: don't you think the background should be moving away from them? It looks like they're walking on a stairmaster or something without it. xDDD
Just some input! It looks so amazing otherwise!

Really amazing! I'd just tell you to try and move the chin differently when she looks to the side and make the trees grow smaller as she proceeds forward. :meow: Everything else is flawless.

Which Toonboom do you use? Harmony? Animate?

toon boom animate pro. I use Flash for my rough animations and I really like the interface. Flash has the ability to edit every single frame at once and I use this constantly whenever I need to fix a proportion. What I dont like about flash is it can get unstable. Toon Boom has a much better line/pencil tool. The find the line/pencil tool much more accurate than flash and I like how each line behaves like its in its own layer.
